The ASA is seeking business partners to help keep creativity and
innovation alive and well within our schools. The TREX Program
offers culturally conscious corporations numerous opportunities to
facilitate appreciation of the visual arts in Alberta. External
financial assistance can help stabilize and diversify funding for
the TREX Program. Here are three ways to become involved.
Sponsor a New Thematic Exhibition
Each year the ASA develops four new thematic exhibitions
that are added to an impressive roster of circulating exhibitions.
Corporations may choose to sponsor the production of one exhibition
which would include framing, crating and development of
interpretive materials by professional educators. Your sponsorship
would be clearly identified in all promotional and didactic
materials associated with the exhibition, as well as highlighted in
the ASA annual booking catalogue which is distributed to over three
hundred locations throughout Alberta.
Sponsor a Series of Artist Visits
The ASA believes the presence of artists in schools can enrich
student learning and assist teachers in developing dynamic
cross-curricular activities. The Visiting Artist Program offers
meaningful interaction between contemporary artists and people
eager to learn about the visual arts. The Cabinet of
Curiosities and Artist Trading Card workshops are two examples of
highly successsful initiatives developed by the ASA. The official
sponsor of the Visiting Artist Program would receive exclusive
naming rights as well as prominent logo identification within
various promotional materials, such as the ASA annual booking
catalogue and the Broad Strokes newsletter.
Sponsor the Broad Strokes Newsletter and
General Advocacy of the TREX Program
The Broad Strokes newsletter is a regular update to create
greater awareness of the TREX Program (Southwest Region). This
printed tabloid effectively builds a sense of community among
organizations that participate in the TREX Program. It
regularly showcases the accomplishments of frontline educators and
art works produced by their students in the classroom. This is
a great opportunity for any business to actively promote and
sponsor the cultural networking that is making a difference in many
lives.
For consideration in the serious matter of how
to allocate money to the many worthy charitable
initiatives, TREX would like to put forward the following:
- People in outlying areas have limited access to art
- Art can enhance their lives and empower their contribution to
our province
- Young people in rural communities more often then not become
urban consumers
- Becoming a TREX sponsor can be an excellent way to
enhance your company's brand in rural areas
As a non-profit organization, the Alberta Society of Artists
(ASA) is an active membership of professional visual artists who
strive for excellence, and through exhibition, education and
communication, shall increase public awareness of the visual
arts. For the last nine years the ASA has been one of four
organizations contracted by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts
(AFA) to develop and circulate portable art exhibitions to rural
communities throughout Alberta. Last year through the TREX Program,
the ASA circulated 31 exhibitions to 63 different venues in 27
southwestern communities with an audience over 93,000.
