Call for Submissions - 2012-13 Season of The
Alberta Society of Artists Gallery at Walterdale,
Edmonton
The ASA is accepting submissions for the 2012-2013 theatre
Season. Exhibitions are open to the public during performances over
the eleven day run of each show (with the exception of the one-act
show which runs for one week). We also open the exhibition
space on the two Saturdays of the show while the next door
Strathcona Farmers Market is open. An artist preview of the
show is offered as part of the opening of each exhibition.
Artists exhibiting are encouraged to fill the theatre for the
opening evening and to take part on Saturdays whenever possible.
There are four exhibition spots available for the coming
season running from April to September 2013.
Proposals can be on any subject and in any media. In order
to allow as many artists to participate in the program as possible,
the selection committee may offer individual artists working in
similar themes the opportunity to participate in small group
shows. The committee will also consider matching artists up
with appropriate theatre pieces scheduled through the year.
Your submissions should include a written proposal, a current
artistic resume and up to 10 digital images in 72 DPI Jpeg format
compatible with a PC environment. Submissions can be
submitted either by e-mail to marj@artists-society.ab.ca
or on CD and send to Marjorie Thomson at the North ASA Office, Box
11334, Main Post Office NW, Edmonton AB T5J 3K6.

Call for Submissions - Black Gold
The Alberta Foundation for the Arts Travelling Exhibition
Program (TREX), organized by the Art Gallery of Alberta, invites
interested Albertan artists to submit art images for consideration
for a TREX exhibition which will tour Alberta, beginning in
September of 2013. (actual dates: September 2013 to August
2015)
This new TREX exhibition is entitled Black Gold. Through art
works, archival photographs, and educational materials this
exhibition will recognize the centenary of the Turner Valley Oil
discovery of 1913, investigate the development of the petroleum
industry in Alberta over the past century, and examine perceptions
of this industry as expressed by Albertan artists. For more

Call For Submissions - Passages
Passages is a juried exhibition of artworks to explore many
different passages: physical or mental travel, growth and
life stages, big historical events, and
personal transformational experiences come to mind. The
exhibition is to be held at the Lougheed House Gallery in
July/August of 2012. Both two- and three-dimensional artworks are
welcome.
ASA Full and Supporting Members are invited to submit up to
3 images of artworks in any medium with dimensions in any direction
of no larger than 48". Submission Deadline: Thursday, May 3rd,
2012, 4pm. Early Entry deadline is Saturday, March 10th. For

Call for Submission - Open, travelling, juried ASA
exhibition: 'Celebrating Alberta'
The Alberta Society of Artists is holding an Open Juried
Exhibition inviting all Alberta Artists to submit artwork in their
chosen medium to Celebrate Alberta. This OPEN exhibition will
showcase high-quality art by Alberta artists who found something
worth celebrating in their unique way: Our diversity of people,
landscapes from various zones of Alberta, unique flora and fauna,
urban and small towns, provincial celebrations and festivals and
our light.
Alberta artists are invited to submit up to 3 images of artworks
in any medium with dimensions in any direction of no larger than

ASA Gallery at Walterdale Playhouse
- Call for Submissions: Nine - The Exhibition
Open to all ASA full, life and supporting
members. As part of its 2011-12 season, Walterdale Playhouse will
undertake a production of the Broadway Musical Nine. Nine is a
musical with a book by Arthur Kopit, music and lyrics by Maury
Yeston. The story is based on Federico Fellini's
semi-autobiographical film 8½. Deadline: Sunday April
1, 2012 at 5pm.

Season 2012 - Artists Choice
Open to all Full and Life Members of the ASA in good
standing. Ajuried exhibition of artworks that
show the best of the current work. Choose any theme, any medium and
look forward to a strong, colourful exhibit. Show
Dates: August 29 to October 28, 2012. Both two- and
three-dimensional artworks are welcome. Early Entry
Deadline: Thursday June 14, 2012 at 5pm. Final
Deadline: Thursday July 5, 2012 at 5pm.

Submissions- ASA Lougheed Gallery
Season 2012 - Spirit of the
Season
Open to all Full and Life Members of the ASA in good
standing. A juried exhibition of
artworks that celebrate the spirit of the season. There are many
seasons in a year or a life time - some ideas include: Return of
the light, family celebration, winter solstice, season of
remembering, joy to the world and season of joy. Show
Dates: October 31 to end of December, 2012. Both two- and
three-dimensional artworks are welcome. Early
Entry Deadline: Thursday June 14, 2012 at 5pm. Final
Deadline: Thursday September 13, 2012 at 5pm.
